ICE BOY

author : Wonhee Jo
format : 216(w) x 278(h) mm
pages : 36

Nothing has been changed

This title gives a repetitive warning against the human greed for the development. It is a shame to see Ice Boy standing in the middle of the broiling city. He discovers where he belongs to, but he fails to reach there.

author’s notes

The city and the people in the book look awkward because of their colors. The red is a symbol of the heat and emergency. I thought that the roads, cars, buildings and raindrops can be a threat for Ice Boy. Ice Boy is blue and he looks unnatural in the red city. It was important to give a sense of difference between Ice Boy and the factors of the global warming. I used the mixed media like colored pencil, marker and oil pastel, and I took the collage when arranging them in the pages.
