Invisible violence

This book has been published before 『The Tree Grows up in That Way』. While the writer reported the violence handing down in the latter title, he more focused on the kid’s inner world here. His metaphor is great. He does not directly indicate dad’s beating to his son. Instead he calls in dad’s friends.

Dad’s friends come home whenever dad is drunken. When his tongue, fists and legs shake the entire house, the kid hides into the blanket. The kid grows up with dad’s friends, and they affect his life intensely.

The story goes until the kid has grown up for showing the influence of the violence. Even though the actual violence is ended, the invisible violence is ongoing in the mind.
